And with the addition of SmartDispense™ technology, our dishwashers will release just the right amount of detergent throughout the wash cycle based on load soil level and water hardness.

GE is designing its upcoming GE Profile dishwasher with SmartDispense™ technology to deliver precise performance, time-saving convenience and simplicity, without losing style or sophistication.

The SmartDispense™ technology enables the dishwasher to hold an entire 45-ounce bottle of liquid or gel detergent and dispense just the right amount for each wash based on water hardness and load soil level, saving on detergent. Refills are typically only necessary once every two to three months, saving the hassle of loading detergent before every wash.

To be ENERGY STAR®-qualified, a dishwasher must operate 25 percent more efficiently than models that have not achieved the ENERGY STAR® standard. Today, ecomagination is responsible for helping more than 90 percent of our built-in dishwashers be ENERGY STAR®-qualified. With such a wide range of energy efficient models, it's possible for families of all income levels to save money while helping save the environment.

If every dishwasher in the United States could be replaced by a GE model with SmartDispense™ technology, we would have the potential to save more than 750,000 tons of dishwashing detergent from being washed down the drain each year.

A GE dishwasher with SmartDispense™ technology will be able to save a customer more than US$ 400 in detergent costs over the life of the dishwasher.

If all Americans used the GE Profile dishwasher, more than 15.5 billion gallons of water a year would be saved – enough to fill more than 20,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
