Coordinated Volt-VAR (CVVC) Technology
GE’s Coordinated Volt-VAR Control (CVVC) technology is designed to reduce electricity consumption by reducing energy load through voltage optimization and by reducing losses on the electric grid, enabling utilities to burn less fuel.
Environmental Benefit
If installed on 10 percent of the distribution feeders in the U.S., GE’s Coordinated Volt-VAR Control (CVVC) technology is designed to reduce electricity consumption by approximately 9.3 billion kWh per year, avoiding annual CO2 emissions equivalent to those of 1.1 million cars on U.S. roads.
Operating Benefit
If installed by a typical electric utility that serves 500,000 customers with 160 distribution substations, GE’s CVVC technology is projected to reduce generation and maintenance costs by over $20 million per year over the expected lifetime of the technology installation.
