Quadramatic Motors
GE’s Quadramatic Motor is used in SAG and ball mill drive systems and has the highest efficiency in its class for fixed speed applications. The motor is used worldwide in copper, gold, and iron ore mines.
Environmental Benefit
GE’s Quadramatic System has the highest efficiency for dual pinion, fixed speed mill applications in the mining industry. Compared to other technologies (induction or gearless motors), a 9,000 HP Quadramatic System consumes approximately 4.5 million kWh less electricity per year, avoiding the annual emission of 900 metric tons of CO2 on the U.S. grid. This is equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of more than 170 passenger cars on U.S. roads.
Operating Benefit
GE’s Quadramatic System has the highest efficiency for dual pinion, fixed speed mill applications in the mining industry. Compared to induction and gearless technologies, a 9,000 HP Quadramatic System consumes approximately 4.5 million kWh less electricity per year, saving more than $250,000 annually at 2008 average U.S. industrial electricity prices of $0.06/kWh.
