ORegen™ System for Waste Heat Recovery
At locations where remote operation, water scarcity and widely variable loads are important issues, capturing gas turbines’ waste heat using the ORegen* system is an efficient and effective choice to generate additional power without additional fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions. The ORegen* system is capable of generating electricity at lower gas turbine loads than a standard combined cycle system where water and steam are used to recover waste heat.
Environmental Benefit
The ORegen* system, coupled with a 28MW GE MS5002C natural gas turbine operating at 100 percent load, is designed to add 12.4 MW of power output without consuming additional fuel. Operating 8,592 hours per year, the ORegen* system produces approximately 106,000 MWh of electricity and avoids more than 34,000 metric tons of CO2 per year compared to typical generation on the European grid. This is equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of more than 17,000 cars on European roads.
Operating Benefit
The Oregen* system is ideal for use in remote locations because it runs without consuming water, does not require on-site manned supervision, and does not impose additional operating limitations to the gas turbine at very low ambient temperatures.
