1033 Locomotive Emissions Kits

The GE 1033 Emissions Kits were created to ensure GE’s installed base of over 6,300 locomotives in the US are capable of meeting the new EPA requirements of Part 1033 Emissions Regulations. The kits are required for Tier 0/Tier 1 locomotives at overhaul beginning January 2010.

Environmental Benefit

If the 3,100 Tier 0 locomotives built between 1973 and 2001 that are scheduled for overhaul in the next eight years use GE’s 1033 Locomotive Emissions Kits and run under a typical duty cycle, they will avoid the total emission of approximately 190,000 tons of NOx in that time.

Operating Benefit

GE’s 1033 Emissions Kits allow customers to extend the life of their Tier 0 locomotives that were built between 1973 and 2001 and reduce NOx emissions by 16 percent compared to similar locomotives that are not overhauled.
