High Efficiency Motors

The GE X$D ULTRA® motor is an enclosed fan-cooled industrial AC motor ranging from one to 300 horsepower. It meets or exceeds National Electrical Manufacturer's Association (NEMA) Premium™ Nominal Efficiency Standards. The low temperature rise and vibration make it ideal for the harshest environments in a variety of industries.

Environmental Benefit

If an industrial user replaces one 100HP 1800 RPM Pre-EPAct motor (which has been rewound once) with a High Efficiency Motor it would save enough energy to power the equivalent of two U.S. households for more than a year.

Operating Benefit

A new 100HP 1800RPM High Efficiency Motor incorporates a vibration level of 0.04 inches per second, which is substantially lower than required by NEMA and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 841 standards, leading to longer bearing life and increased customer value. Also, the High Efficiency Motor's low temperature rise and low vibration make it an ideal motor for any application where the operating conditions are less than perfect and uptime is a very high priority.

The environmental challenge

Most of the environments in which the High Efficiency Motor are applied are considered harsh to extreme environments. This means applications exposed to the elements or corrosive agents in geographies known for wide swings in temperature and weather. The High Efficiency Motors are ideally suited for such conditions.

GE’s innovative solution

The High Efficiency Motor utilizes improved materials and cutting edge technology to develop excellent electrical and mechanical performance. This product of ecomagination couldn't come at a better time with rising energy and plant operating costs.

Environmental impact

If three quarters of the industrial users in the U.S. replace one 100HP 1800 RPM Pre-EPAct motor with a GE High Efficiency Motor it would, in each year of operation, avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to keeping 1.6 million cars off U.S. roads for a year.

Reducing costs

A new 100HP 1800RPM High Efficiency Motor can pay for itself in energy savings in less than two years if it is used to replace an equivalent, pre-EPAct motor.
