HEAT Steam Turbine
An increase in the efficiency of power generating equipment reduces fuel cost and emissions on a per unit of electriciy basis. The 107A-14 HEAT (High Efficiency, Advanced Technology) steam turbine is our first introduction of reaction-based technology for the 60 Hz combined cycle market. In addition to reaction technology it integrates advanced sealing with integral cover buckets (ICBs), abradable seals, and brush seals.
Environmental Benefit
A typical customer operating a GE 109FB plant with a 109A HEAT Steam Turbine instead of a 109D steam turbine at ISO baseload for 3066 hours per year can achieve a 0.27 point improvement in plant net efficiency, avoiding the emission of over 1,800 metric tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of over 900 cars on European roads.
Operating Benefit
A typical customer operating a GE 109FB plant with a 109A HEAT Steam Turbine instead of a 109D steam turbine at ISO baseload for 3066 hours per year can achieve a 0.27 point improvement in plant net efficiency, yielding a potential annual fuel cost savings of approximately €200,000 at a fuel price of €0.20/cubic meter of natural gas.
