A Community Building on Improved Energy Efficiency in the Philippines

For those seeking to adopt a lower impact on the environment in their community , a new model of will soon be available in the Philippines. Nuvali, a community being built through an alliance between GE and real estate developer Ayala Land, will focus on higher energy efficiency and "cleaner" technologies.

Built on a 1,700 hectare property south of Manila, Nuvali will combine the latest in energy efficient building technologies with advanced urban planning, architecture and construction practices. The result will be the new concept of "evoliving" — a goal to improve the relationships of life, nature and technology.

Within its iconic Evoliving Center and "greener" model homes, Nuvali will feature a variety of ecomagination products. Along with GE lighting and appliances designed to help improve energy efficiency, Nuvali's structures will include a GE reverse osmosis unit, the GE Homespring water purification unit and GE Solar panels. Homes will also be equipped with a GE Dashboard for monitoring historical and real-time electricity and water consumption.

The collaboration is an important one for GE in the Philippines, where we have done business for nearly 120 years. The Evoliving Center is scheduled for completion in April 2009, followed by the launch of the "greener" model home later in the year.

"With GE’s ecomagination initiative in the Philippines, we are positive that GE and Ayala Land will have significant contributions to the preservation of our environment and the pursuit of better, more energy-efficient ways of building homes and communities," says Ayala Land president, Jaime Ayala.
